Here’s To Life with Tori Reid
Ep. 18: Daphne Maxwell Reid – The Renaissance Woman
March is Women’s History Month. Tori delights in a spirited conversation honoring a special woman in her life. She made history as the first Black woman featured on the cover of Glamour magazine, as Northwestern University’s first Black homecoming queen which shocked the campus drawing national coverage, but she is widely known as “Aunt Viv” of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. In every decade since the 1960s, she’s made her mark on American culture, but she is most proud of the mark she leaves on her family. She is a Renaissance woman who is accomplished in photography, gourmet cooking, clothing design, and continues to work steadily on the small screen and in films continuing her acting career for five decades. Tori uses this conversation as a meditation for how women have gotten ahead and what they need to do to go all the way. They talk about the role of Black women historically, how to have a winning attitude, fulfilling your destiny, and so much more! Here’s to the Renaissance woman, Daphne Maxwell Reid.
